About SBPA

The vision of the School of Business and Public Administration (SBPA) is to be recognized for achievement in providing outstanding business and public administration educational programs and graduating successful local, national and global leaders in the private, public and non-profit sectors.

As part of the University of the District of Columbia, the mission of the School of Business and Public Administration is to provide business and public administration educational programs that will prepare its diverse students, residents and global citizens to become strategic, creative and ethical organizational leaders in their local, national and international communities.  The faculty, through their teaching, scholarship, and community engagement, is dedicated to the development of successful graduates and to the examination of business and public administration issues in the Washington, DC region and beyond.

1. Deliver effective academic programs that integrate classroom and experiential learning to prepare our students, residents and global citizens for successful careers in the 21^st century.
2. Establish corporate, government and non-profit organizational partnerships to enrich the learning experiences of our students and other stakeholders and to affirm the real-world relevance of our programs.
3. Recognize, embrace, and value ethnic and cultural diversity and welcome and respect people of different backgrounds, beliefs, and points of view.
4. Embrace and explore technology as a means of delivering instruction and enhancing research.
5. Value excellence in teaching and research and support meaningful research and knowledge dissemination

1. Review and enhance curriculum and develop courses and academic programs that will meet the workforce needs of the 21^st century.
2. Sustain faculty scholarship and grants by promoting scholarly research.
3. Enhance experiential and life-long learning through student and stakeholder engagement with industries and organizations throughout the community.
4. Continue accreditation efforts for Public Administration (NASPAA), and Business Administration (ACBSP and AACSB).
5. Strengthen extramural funding for research, scholarships and other school activities.
