UDC is a public institution located near Embassy Row in Washington, DC and serves approximately 5,200 students each year. Chartered in 1851 as the only urban land grant university in the Unites States, UDC is the only fully accredited public institution of higher education in the nation’s capital. UDC Community College (Associate degree programs):
High school diploma, GED or equivalent
UDC Flagship University (Bachelor’s degree programs):
2.5 high school grade point average and 890 SAT or 16 ACT score; OR
2.0 – 2.49 and 1030 SAT or a score of 19 on ACT or better
Applicants who do not meet the Flagship University admissions standards, including those who have been out of school for more than three years, can take theACCUPLACERexam. Students must achieve the following ACCUPLACER scores make applicants eligible for admission to UDC’s Flagship University:
Transferring to the Community College (Associate degree programs):
High school diploma, GED or equivalent
Not currently on academic probation or suspension at another college or university (There is a one-year waiting period for those who’ve been academically dismissed from their last school.)
Transferring to the Flagship University (Bachelor’s degree programs):
24 college credits or more and an aggregate grade point average of 2.0 or higher
Less than 24 college credits with a high school grade point average of 2.5 or higher
Pay a non-refundable application fee (application fee currently waived).
Submit official high school transcripts or copy of GED diploma and test scores (or equivalent).
Submit official SAT or ACT test scores (if applying to UDC’s Flagship University) or submit official transcripts from other colleges or universities attended.

UDC’s campus is located at the intersection of Connecticut Avenue and Van Ness Street NW, which is close to the Van Ness/UDC Metro station stop. Surrounded by “embassy Row,” the National Zoo, and a variety of restaurants, UDC is located in one of the safest and most vibrant neighborhoods in Washington, D.C. Van Ness offers a plethora of cultural and recreational offerings to engage students between classes.
Many local students live at home or with family while attending UDC. Others choose nearby, off-campus apartments. TheOffice of Residence Lifeis available to assists students in finding the perfect match for off-campus housing.
