To ensure you qualify for admission to UDC and avoid delaying your acceptance, please submit a COMPLETE package of all required documents for your given application type.
When sending your credentials or other documents to the Office of Undergraduate Admission, make sure to include the name of the form and your identification number (if received) on all mailing envelopes. All credentials and payments must be sent to the following address:

Note: If you are a graduate degree applicant, you may also email any signed letters of recommendation and personal essays directly to the Office of Graduate Admission at tharrison@udc.edu.
As a first-time, international, or transfer student, you will apply for admission through the Common App. After applying through the Common App, you will submit your official transcript(s) from your high school or previously attended college or university. Letters of recommendation and essays are not required. All other types will apply through our UDC application.
To be accepted into your chosen program, you must have a grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher. But don't worry! If your GPA is lower than 2.5, you can still be accepted into our community college.
What to Expect
After applying, no one enjoys waiting for a response. To ensure that you and your peers can stay informed and within a timely manner, your admission counselor will assist you throughout your admission journey.
Note: If you are a resident of the United States– including foreign citizens with immigrant (resident) visas, foreign citizens with G-4 visas and undocumented immigrants– you are NOT considered an international student and should apply as a regular freshman or transfer student.
What Type of Applicant Are You?
You should apply to UDC as a First Time in College Applicant if you meet ALL of the following criteria:
Pursuing an associate or bachelor's degree
Recent or soon-to-be high school graduate OR possess a valid General Education Development (GED) certificate
Have NOT previously enrolled in any postsecondary institution in or outside the United States
Van Ness Campus (Bachelor's Program)
In addition to having earned a high school diploma, GED or equivalent, you must meet the following academic standards to qualify for the Flagship:
Earned a high school grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.5 and an SAT score of at least 890 or an ACT score of at least 16 (SAT and ACT optional for admission)
OR earned a high school GPA of at least a 2.0 and an SAT score of 1030 or an ACT score of at least 19
Requirements
To be considered for admission into UDC as a First Time College Applicant, you must submit ALL of the following items:
Completed online application
Nonrefundable $35.00 application fee (application fee is currently waived)
Official high school transcript(s), OR a copy of your GED diploma
Test scores or equivalent, reflecting all coursework, grades and your date of graduation
If you are a Flagship applicant choosing to submit test scores, you must submit:
Official SAT, ACT or ACCUPLACER scores (sent directly from the testing agency, and/or identified on your official transcripts).
You should apply to UDC as an Adult Learner First Time in College (Freshman) Applicant only if ALL of the following conditions apply:
You are an adult learner from Academy of Hope PCS, Briya PCS, Carlos Rasario International PCS, Community College Prep, LAYAC Career Academy, The Goodwill Excel Center, The Next Step PCS, Maya Angelou PCS, The Family Place PCS or Youth Build PCS.
You are seeking an Associate's or Bachelor's Degree.
You have graduated or will graduate from high school or you possess a valid General Education Development (GED) certificate and have not previously enrolled in any postsecondary institution in or outside of the United States.
Requirements
Adult Learner First Time in College (Freshman) applicants are required to submit all of the following for admission:
Completed online application for First Time in College Applicants
Official high school transcript(s) or copy of a GED diploma and test scores or equivalent reflecting all coursework, grades and date of graduation
For Flagship applicants only, official SAT, ACT or ACCUPLACER scores, sent directly from the testing agency, and/or identified on student's official transcripts. Note: Effective, Fall 2020 SAT and ACT test scores are optional.
You should apply to UDC as an Undergraduate Transfer Applicant if you meet ALL of the following criteria:
Seeking an associate or bachelor's degree
Completed high school and are currently enrolled in, or have previously attended a college, university, and/or proprietary school in or outside of the United States at any time since graduating high school.
Van Ness Campus (Bachelor's Program)
As a transfer applicant, you will be eligible for admission to the Flagship if you meet the following academic criteria:
Earned 24 college credits or more and hold an aggregate GPA of at least 2.5
Earned less than 24 college credits, but have earned a high school GPA of at least 2.5
1. If you previously attended UDC as a degree-seeking student, you must apply as a Re-Admit Applicant, even if you were enrolled in a postsecondary institution after leaving UDC.
2. If you are seeking a second bachelor's degree, you should apply as a Transfer Applicant.
Requirements
To be considered for admission into UDC as an Undergraduate Transfer Applicant, you must submit ALL of the following items:
Completed online application
Nonrefundable $35.00 application fee (application fee is currently waived)
Official college transcript(s) reflecting all coursework and grades from all postsecondary institutions attended.
Official high school transcript(s), OR copy of GED diploma and test scores or equivalent, with date of graduation from all secondary institutions attended. (students with less than 24 college credits ONLY)
Note: When applying, you must submit transcripts from all institutions attended. Failing to do so may result in the denial of transfer credits. Only credits for transcripts received prior to your admission to UDC will be reviewed. UDC will NOT accept requests to apply credits for which we have no transcripts submitted prior to your admission.
You should apply to UDC as an Undergraduate Re-Admit Applicant if you meet ALL of the following criteria:
Seeking an associate, bachelor, or graduate degree
Previously enrolled at UDC as a degree-seeking student
Have NOT been enrolled in courses at UDC for two or more subsequent semesters (excluding summer) for any reason
Suspended for academic or non-academic reasons
Completed a total withdrawal regardless of when total withdrawal occurred
Requirements
To be considered for admission into UDC as an Undergraduate Re-Admit Applicant, you must submit ALL of the following items:
Completed online application
Non-refundable $35.00 application fee, OR the applicable non-refundable graduate WebAdMIT application fee. UDC $50 application fee will be waived. (application fee is currently waived)
Official college transcript(s) reflecting all coursework and grades from all post-secondary institutions attended since leaving UDC.
Note: If you received Financial Aid during your previous attendance, contact the Office of Financial Aid for any updates to your eligibility, as Federal Financial Aid regulations have changed.
If you left UDC owing a tuition balance, please contact the Student Accounts for Financial Clearance. If you are a readmitted student with a prior financial balance, you must pay all financial obligations to register for classes.
You are considered an International Applicant and should complete one of the international applications if you meet the following criteria:
Seeking an associate, bachelor's, graduate or doctoral degree
Identify as a foreign national possessing a nonimmigrant visa/status in the USA, such as F-1, H-4, L-2, G-4, etc.
Identify as a pending permanent resident in the USA (application for permanent resident status to USCIS is submitted but not yet adjudicated)
Note: If you are a US citizen (including dual citizens), US permanent resident, asylee or refugee, foreign citizen with G-4 visa, or undocumented immigrant, you are NOT considered an international student and should apply as a regular freshman, transfer, or graduate applicant.
Requirements
To be considered for admission into UDC as an International Applicant (but not a Re-Admit or Non-Degree seeking applicant), you must submit ALL of the following items:
Completed appropriate online International application
Official transcript(s) from postsecondary schools, colleges, universities, or professional institutes, reflecting all coursework, grades and date of graduation.
Note: For all transcript(s) in languages besides English, you must provide the original transcript and diploma (School-Leaving Certificate) showing all grades (marks) and your date of graduation, in the form of a document-by-document evaluation by a member organization of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc. (NACES). Hand-delivered originals or copies will not be accepted.

Language Requirements
To ensure that you are eligible for admission at UDC as an international student, please review the following:
Proof of English Proficiency
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
Minimum score of 550 on the written test, or 79 on the online test (admissible by both the Community College and Flagship campuses).
If your score for the online test is below 60, you will be denied admission to the UDC Community College.
If you score between 60 and 78 on the online test with an average score of 86 or higher on the ESL Accuplacer exam, you may be admitted to the Community College.

Requirement Waiver
College-Level English
Official college transcript reflecting your successful completion of two college-level English courses at an accredited U.S. college or university.
Official college transcript(s) indicating a final grade of C or better in one college-level English course at an accredited postsecondary institution in the United States.
Graduated from an ELS Educational Services English proficiency program with a minimum proficiency score of 109 for the Community College, or 112 for the Flagship Undergraduate or Graduate programs.
Graduate/Doctoral Degree Program
Official college transcript(s) reflecting your successful completion of a degree earned at an accredited American college or university.
Test scores are to be mailed directly to UDC by the Educational Testing Service (ETS).
Note: If you are an international applicant, you are NOT eligible for a non-degree student status and must pursue a degree.
You should apply to UDC as a Graduate Degree Applicant if you meet ALL of the following criteria:
Seeking a graduate degree
Earned a bachelor's degree from an accredited post-secondary institution
As a graduate applicant at UDC, you will be using the Central Application System by Liaison International. Spread out across several different schools at UDC, we are proud to offer a wide variety of graduate-level programs. With each college comes a unique application process.

You should apply to UDC as a Graduate Degree Re-Admit Applicant if you meet ALL of the following criteria:
Seeking an associate, bachelor, or graduate degree
Previously enrolled at UDC as a degree-seeking student

NOT an F-1 or J-1 Visa (EXCEPTION: You are a soon-to-be or recent graduate from UDC with a bachelor's degree within the past academic year and are waiting to be accepted into a graduate degree program).
Completed and graduated from high school
Requirements
As a non-degree applicant, you are required to submit ALL of the following in order to be admitted:
Completed online application
Non-refundable $35.00 application fee or the applicable non-refundable graduate WebAdMIT application fee. The UDC $50.00 graduate application fee will be waived. (application fee is currently waived)
UDC Community College at Lamond-Riggs CARE Dual Enrollment
To apply for Dual Enrollment, you must submit an online application prior to the deadline to be considered. The online application link is available through our high school partners. For further application instructions, contact your DCPS or DCPCS school counselor or the UDC-CC CARE Program Office. Please send additional questions to care@udc.edu.
Once you have completed your application for dual enrollment, please have your high school counselor complete the Counselor Recommendation form and submit it along with your UDC application.
Note: The UDC CARE Program is unable to accept late applications.
Undergraduate Application
As an undergraduate non-degree applicant, you must submit one of the following:
Official high school transcript(s)
Copy of your GED diploma
Evaluated high school transcript(s)
Current college transcript or letter from your current college reflecting your good academic standing
Graduate Application
As a graduate non-degree applicant, you must submit the following:
Official college (transcript(s) reflecting your date of graduation from an accredited bachelor's degree program.
Critical Thinking Writing Sample– Please submit a 500-word essay answering the following questions: "What do you see as the most critical urban issue today, and why?", and "What would be your approach to addressing it?"
Two letters of recommendation
Please submit your transcripts digitally through a service like National Student Clearinghouse or Parchment.
Please submit the curriculum vitae or resume, Statement of Purpose/Personal Statement, Critical Thinking Writing Sample, and letters of recommendation in PDF form to Tim Harrison at tharrison@udc.edu.
