The Myrtilla Miner Faculty Fellows Institute (MMFI) seeks to enhance teaching and learning at the University of the District of Columbia to improve student learning gains. The program creates opportunities for faculty to learn from the readings, associated activities, instructor feedback, self-reflection, and other faculty in the learning community.

CAL Faculty Book Club
The CAL Faculty Book Club is an inclusive space where faculty, leadership, and staff can engage in meaningful discussions about teaching, learning, and professional growth. We meet once a month to explore books that inspire new ideas, enhance instructional practices, and foster critical conversations.
Anyone is welcome to suggest a book, or a CAL team member may select a book to guide our discussions. The book club provides an opportunity to exchange ideas, gain new perspectives, and apply insights to teaching, learning, and professional development.

Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)
The Center for the Advancement of Learning (CAL) facilitates Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) that work collaboratively to enhance teaching effectiveness and improve student learning outcomes. Our Faculty Learning Communities (FLCs) meet monthly in a virtual format via Webex, providing a space for faculty to exchange ideas, explore best practices, and implement innovative teaching strategies.
