Student Center Program Board

The Student Center Program Board is responsible for planning and implementing events and other engagement opportunities for U.D.C. students in the Student Center.

The team works with Student Center professional staff to plan exciting events such as dances, cultural events, game shows, etc.  Their goals are for you to see the Student Center as a place you can spend your time and meet people or come with your friends and have a good time.  For additional information about the Student Center Program Board, please contact Charles.Amerson@udc.edu.

Committees of the Program Board include:

  • FELIX FRENZY – Responsible for working closely with the Programs and Promotions Specialist on selecting and programming events related to student/University traditions, spirit, annual activities. Works collaboratively with other campus organizations, faculty, and staff to produce a university-wide spirit and traditions for Firebird Pride throughout the year. Examples of events would include pre-NCAA competition tailgates, the annual Student Center Extravaganza, S.C.P.B.’s participation in Homecoming planning, the Weeks of Welcome activities, etc.
  • FIREBIRD CULTURE – Responsible for a series of events to educate and showcase classic to contemporary fine and performing arts to UDC students, along with events emphasizing cultural competency, diversity, and inclusion. Programming should be unique and creative to enhance and represent the diverse UDC collegiate experience. Examples of events may include Inter/National art showcases, live theatrical performances, movie premieres, (multi) cultural observances, etc.
  • FELIX SPEAKS – This area complements the University’s academic mission and supports a marketplace of various opinions and ideas by selecting and programming thought-provoking and intellectually stimulating performances. This area works to provide forums, lectures, debates, and tasks on a variety of issues and topics. Examples of events would include comedy shows, workshops, speakers on contemporary issues, the last lecture series where professors speak on chosen topics and their interests as though it were their last scholarly lecture.
  • FIREBIRD SUITE – Responsible for selecting and programming a series of events with musical acts, live performances, and leisure time activities. Programming should be unique and creative to enhance and represent the diverse UDC collegiate experience. Events may include but are not limited to live music, talent shows, executions to various points of attraction, game nights, dances, and karaoke.

The Student Center Program Board will employ a combination of remote and virtual programming during the Fall 2021 semester that will include programming via the Student Center Instagram account, the Virtual Student Center on WebEx, and other social media channels.
