UDC Student Center History and Sustainability

On January 20, 2016, the Student Center at UDC's Van Ness campus was established as the university's multi-faceted event center and communal space for the Firebird community. It is not only the focal point of our university, but it also serves as a beacon for all that we have achieved and stand for.

Having earned the highest available level of design sustainability, the UDC Student Center is one of only two college unions on the East Coast considered a LEED Platinum building. As a part of that sustainability, we have two rain gardens cycling rainwater throughout the building's sanitary fixtures, as well as automatic sensors that conserve heating, cooling, lighting and water.
