Welcome to the FREE VOICE Online, a project of the Journalism program within the Department of Communications. Our department is a vital and energetic part of the University of the District of Columbia, offering a Mass Media Degree with opions in Journalism/Electronic Media, and Video/Digital Production.

Professor Olive Vassell

Oversees the production of the FREEVOICE online and the FREEVOICE print edition. Originally from London, she is founder and managing editor of Euromight.com, an Afro-European news site.

Jordaania Andima

Jordaania Andima is a writer, photographer, and teacher's assistant in the communications department. She is a 2012 graduate of the journalism program with a career focus in photojournalism.

Hector Rodriguez

Hector Rodriguez is an aspiring investigative photojournalist that is focusing his studies on Political Science to enhance his degree in Mass Media. Originally from Los Angeles, Ca., he served in the U.S. Military and is currently the copy editor for the Free Voice..

Jabari Levell

Jabari Levell is an aspiring writer and photographer. He believes the power of words and images exceed that of any other tool, they have the ability to spark innovation and hope while also being able to uproot and bring despair. As a journalism major, Jabari aspires to do the former, by eliminating contentment and apathy and invoking interest and passion.

Sean Hoggard

A transfer student from Delaware State, Sean is a senior majoring in Mass Media/Journalism. With passions in music and sports, he is determined to have a career as a sports analyst or writer for ESPN or a music artist.

Keith Brooks

Keith Brooks is a senior majoring in journalism. He has a passion for sports and is also interested in entertainment. Keith is a student-athlete whose career goal is to earn a job at ESPN as a sports analyst or as a sports journalist for a major network.

Radaka Lightfoot

Radaka Lightfoot is a transfer student from American University and the University of the Virgin Islands, St. Thomas. Radaka is a senior majoring in Mass Media. She aspires to be an entertainment journalist, exposing what people think and helping them have a voice.

Jeania Bagley

Jeania Bagley is 20 years old and originally from New York. She has always had a passion for writing. She is currently apart of Track and Field team. She plans to get her bachelors degree in Mass Media with a focus of Journalism. Afterwards she plans on pursuing her graduates degree in Corporate Communication and Public Relations.
