As a member of the Division of Social and Behavioral Sciences, you join a community of faculty and students committed to making meaningful contributions at the local, national, or global level. The Division of Social and Behavioral Sciences is an incubator for future leaders and problem-solvers. Through its diverse range of disciplines, the Division equips students with the intellectual tools, critical thinking skills, commitment to service, cultural understanding, and ethical awareness necessary to navigate and influence the complex dynamics and emergent technological challenges of this changing world.

The Division of Social and Behavioral Sciences includes a Master of Science in Homeland Security, four undergraduate programs in Administration of Justice, Human Development, Political Science, and Psychology, as well as two undergraduate concentrations in, Global Studies, and Homeland Security STEM. These academic programs are complimented by a diverse range of research, outreach, and training initiatives including the Institute for Public Safety and Justice (IPSJ), Homeland Security Research Lab, Social Development and Identity Formation (SDI) Lab, Experimental Psychology Lab, Mindful and Courageous Action (MICA) Lab, the Interdisciplinary Research Lab (IRL) containing an AI server, as well as others.

Our faculty are engaged in innovative research and social activism intended to advance the human condition and are recognized experts in their field. Faculty work closely with students, in the classroom, on community-based projects, joint research and professional conference presentations. Our students also participate in national competitions, as well as national and international simulations. Experiential opportunities such as internships, agency-based placements, field practicum, study abroad experiences, and professional mentoring experiences model future professional and career roles which prepare students for current and prospective job trends.
