Bachelor of Music

We invite you to join the vibrant music community at the University of the District of Columbia! By joining the Bachelor of Music program at UDC, you'll expand your musical training in an exciting and challenging environment and become part of an exciting community of performers, composers and educators. You'll receive the specialized training necessary to develop into the performer, teacher or creative individual that you've always aspired to be. Music at UDC enjoys a rich and celebrated legacy across jazz, gospel and classical offerings. Not only will you benefit from a specialized core music curriculum, but you'll also be able to delve into your area of focus via the Music Performance or Music Education pathways. What's more, during your time in the program, you will receive access to the facilities, including a recital hall, soundproof practice modules, a music technology laboratory, a digital piano laboratory, ensemble and rehearsal rooms and music library.

Admission Requirements and How to Apply

To be admitted into any of the bachelor-level music programs, you must:

  1. Apply to UDC
  2. Audition successfully in your performance area(s)
  3. Pass the music program's placement examinations

Program Outcomes

Join UDC's Performance Ensembles!

UDC Chorale: Perform at major events like Convocation, Founder’s Day and Commencement as well as various community engagements.

UDC Jazz Ensembles: Perform at major events such as the Calvin Jones BIG BAND Jazz Festival, JAZZAlive Concerts and various community performances.

UDC Chamber Ensembles: Woodwind, Chamber, Brass and Percussion

The Voices: Perform at UDC Gospel Music Concerts and more.
