Program Overview

Bachelor of Art in Digital Media

Do you want a career in film, television, online or other media? Take your first step towards making that a reality with a Bachelor of Art in Digital Media degree from the University of the District of Columbia!

Our Digital Media program provides vibrant, affordable courses designed to prepare you for a variety of careers in high-demand fields like broadcast and multimedia journalism, digital video and film production. Even better, residents of Washington, D.C. are eligible to apply for tuition and other financial assistance under the D.C. Futures program.

If you're already a working professional and would like to build your media credentials or advance in your current field, we encourage you to pursue one of our two certificates: the Multimedia Journalism Certificate or the Video and Film Production Certificate. Only requiring 15 credit hours to complete, these programs are perfect for individuals with busier schedules. Not only will you be able to fit your studies seamlessly around your work life, but you'll be well on your way to professional advancement in no time!

At UDC, it's important to us that you receive the care and attention you deserve in order to achieve success in your field following graduation. By maintaining small class sizes with only 10 to 20 students in each class on average, our program has produced a number of accomplished graduates over the years, including:

  • Shawn Michael Matthews (Class of 2015): Emmy winner (2022)
  • Mirchaye Sahlu (Class of 2015): Emmy winner (2023)
  • Larry Sindass (Class of 1992): Seven-time Emmy winner (last two in 2023)
