Confidentiality and Release of Information

All services provided to students are confidential. All communication between you and your clinician are also strictly confidential. Issues of privacy and confidentiality are covered thoroughly in staff and volunteer training.

A confidential medical record is established and maintained for every patient who receives care. If you are 18 years or older, information cannot be released, even to your parents, without your permission. Information is released only with your written permission, upon a court-ordered subpoena, or in a life-threatening situation.

The University Health Services is compliant with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Federal Educational and Privacy Rights Act (FERPA).
