Engineering Science - AS

Program Overview

Associate of Science in Engineering Science

The Engineering Science program prepares students to transfer and obtain a bachelor’s degree in a variety of specific engineering disciplines. Students will have satisfied the first two years of the B.S. degree programs at UDC as well as other similar degree-granting programs. The program is designed to accommodate further study in civil, mechanical, biomedical, and electrical engineering.

Engineering has been around since ancient days when humans were trying to make life’s daily tasks easier. Today, engineers are still creating and designing to solve some of the world’s most complex problems. The integration of science, mathematics, and technology allows engineers to create devices, machines, and software to move our society forward. There is a very high demand in the job market for engineers across all disciplines. You will learn to think critically and analytically and apply engineering fundamentals.

Upon Completion of the program, students will be able to:

  • Apply and articulate fundamental engineering concepts
  • Design and test a system, model, or process to meet specified needs within constraints
  • Communicate effectively via oral, hand-written, and electronic modes, including technical presentations
  • Apply computational skills in reasoning, analysis, and problem-solving
  • Apply the professional and ethical values of the engineering profession in a human community context
