Dr. Edwin Bancroft Henderson Memorial Fund commemorates the legend
The UDC Foundation moves forward with Phase II of the Dr. Edwin Bancroft Henderson Memorial Campaign and continues to seek donations for student success initiatives. Funds from this campaign will be used to support summer sports camps for youth from Wards 7 and 8 and youth development partnerships.
The Department of Athletics will offer youth camps and clinics in basketball, soccer, lacrosse and tennis. Participants will enjoy swimming in the University’s indoor natatorium and learn about sportsmanship, strength and conditioning, as well as sports nutrition.
Donations will also provide programmatic support and stipends for students who will share their skills and knowledge with their communities; helping to build a stronger DC. The Social Justice Ambassadors (SJAs) program is a leadership development fellowship offered through CDIMA. It was seeded by PepsiCo and is now fiscally supported by the UDC Foundation. Selected students will learn the knowledge and skills needed to advocate for issues that impact historically marginalized people. Students will get the opportunity to deepen their leadership skills, develop programs, and participate in a combination of workshops, retreats, and volunteer opportunities that are intended to make a difference on campus and in their local communities.
