Research Interests: Reconfigurable computing systems and applications, hardware/software co-design, digital signal processing systems, digital VLSI, Verilog and VHDL hardware description languages, digital Image Processing, medical image processing and analysis. My professional objectives are: a) conduct industrial and government agency funded research of national significance in the areas of computer engineering and adaptive computer architecture, and digital and image signal processing; b) to publish said research in nationally recognized journals and conference proceedings; c) to introduce, teach, and strengthen undergraduate and graduate courses and laboratories in the computer engineering/architecture fields; d) to help the creation of nationally recognized electrical and computer engineering graduate programs; e) to support, mentor and direct the work of advanced undergraduate and graduate students whose interests are in the computer engineering field.
