UDC Launches Redesigned Website to Enhance User Experience and Accessibility

The University of the District of Columbia (UDC) is proud to announce the launch of its newly redesigned website, offering an enhanced digital experience that reflects UDC’s mission, impact and brand while providing improved navigation, expanded search capabilities and a dynamic program finder. The website redesign is part of a series of presidential priority initiatives rooted in the Delivering on the Promise strategic plan, aimed at strengthening UDC’s institutional identity, enhancing recruitment efforts and improving engagement with the entire Firebird community. The initiative includes a variety of components designed to modernize UDC’s marketing tools and strategies to increase visibility and attract top talent. 

“Our goal was to create a website that captures the vibrant spirit of UDC while providing a seamless and intuitive experience for all our audiences,” said Interim Vice President of Marketing & Communications Andrea Williams. “With its user-friendly layout, enhanced search function and modern design, this platform will make it easier for prospective students to explore academic programs, for alumni to stay connected and for university partners to engage with UDC.” 

Key features of the redesigned website include:

  • Improved navigation and search tools: A more intuitive interface makes it easier to explore academic programs, university services and key resources. 
  • Dynamic program finder: A new tool that helps prospective students quickly find the right degree or certificate program. 
  • Revamped news section: Users can now filter university news by subject and date for easier access to the latest updates. 
  • Mobile-friendly and accessible design: Optimized for all devices, ensuring compliance with accessibility standards. 
  • Searchable faculty and staff directory: A robust, searchable database is set to launch by the end of spring. 

Through this and other initiatives, UDC will further elevate its role as a leading national public urban university by ensuring a stronger, more connected digital presence for everyone who engages with the institution. 

The redesigned website was developed in collaboration with Beacon Technologies, incorporating feedback from UDC students, faculty and staff. Built on Cascade CMS by Hannon Hill, a leader in higher education content management, the platform is designed for long-term scalability and ease of use.
