Dr. Andrea Adams, assistant professor of crime, justice and security studies in the Division of Social and Behavioral Sciences, served on a roundtable entitled “Rural Perspectives on Crime and Justice: A Global Analysis of Victimization, Safety, and Policing” at the American Society of Criminology’s Annual Conference on November 18.
Dr. Adams’ work on rural crime follows an article published last year, “Digital Technologies and Interventions Against Gender-Based Violence in Rural Areas,” which showcases the Red Dot Foundation’s mapping of gender-based violence through its smartphone app, Safecity. This work is also being captured in an upcoming book project about the origins of the Red Dot Foundation with its founder, Elsa Marie D’Silva and Dr. Suzanne Lea, UDC assistant professor of crime, justice and security studies in the Division of Social and Behavioral Sciences.
