Welcome to the ARC
The University of the District of Columbia extends a warm welcome to applicants, undergraduates and postgraduates with disabilities. We sincerely hope that you will enjoy your academic studies and university life to the fullest. Our many students and alumni with disabilities who have gone before you have made us proud of their academic and personal achievements.
The university is committed to providing equal and integrated access for individuals with disabilities to all the academic, social, cultural, and recreational programs it offers. We work with students to ensure access to every opportunity for learning and personal growth so that students with disabilities may participate as fully as possible in campus life. Students are expected and encouraged to utilize the resources of the Accessibility Resource Center to the degree they determine necessary. Although a significant degree of independence is expected of students, the Accessibility Resource Center is available to assist, should the need arise.
ARC Intake Process
The ARC Counselor will engage the student in an interactive process to consider recommended reasonable accommodations necessary to enable the student to have an equal opportunity to benefit from services, programs, or activities at the University.
University Commitment
The University is deeply committed to providing equal educational opportunities for qualified enrolled or admitted students with disabilities in accordance with District and federal laws and regulations, including the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and 2008 (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
