Meeting UDC students where they are promotes growth in all its forms. What I appreciate most from seeking and achieving a QM certification for IGED 280 (Discovery Civics) is gaining a professional learning community dedicated to that very goal. As an online teaching skeptic, completing the QM training, having course design support from CAL, and engaging in the peer review process has allowed me to address my concerns while preparing myself and our students for the 21st century higher education landscape. If you are unfamiliar with the QM process, I highly encourage you to check out the “Elements of Quality Matters: Deliver on Your Online Promise” course. This free, quick course provides an excellent overview of QM, its origin, evolution, and how it sets the gold standard for online course design.
