UDC Admissions Standards for International Students

Our admissions team reviews each application for these admissions standards. For full details, read the detailed UDC Admissions Policies.

International applicants must adhere to the priority  deadlines.

If you submit a complete application package (all required items) we can successfully make a decision in a timely fashion.

The process for international students can be a lengthy one, depending on the needs of each student or applicant. Therefore, to better serve both applicants and current UDC international students, the following schedule:

Monday, Wednesday and Friday – SEVIS, I-20, immigration related questions and concerns for undergraduate and graduate students

Tuesday, Thursday – new undergraduate, international applicant questions and concerns

Community College (Associate degree programs)

Flagship University (Bachelor’s degree programs)

In addition to the academic standards above, that all UDC applicants must meet, international students must submit additional documentation outlined below.

Before You Apply

International students must meet additional immigration and language proficiency standards before being admitted. UDC recommends you read more about:

UDC Admissions Process for International Students

  1. Complete and submit the international student online application.
  2. Pay a non-refundable application fee ($50 in U.S. dollars).
  3. Submit official, sealed and translated academic transcripts. (Academic work completed outside of the U.S. at the secondary or university levels must be evaluated by a member organization of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc. (NACES).
  4. Submit evidence of English proficiency. (Please review the full details on English proficiency requirements, including “conditional admission” for those who can meet all admission requirements except English proficiency.)
  5. Submit financial verification (only for those holding an F-1 visa).
  6. Submit immigration documentation:
    1. Copy of passport photo/data page
    2. I-94 card
    3. I-20 Eligibility Form
  7. For F-1 transfer students only, submit copy of most recent I-20 form and F-1Transfer Form

After You Apply

Three days (72 hours) after submitting your application, you can check on the status of your application and supporting documents required for admission. Simply log into UDC’s application system using the same Login ID and PIN # you used to create the application. If you forget your ID or PIN, please email Michael Sullin at michael.sullin@udc.edu.

Once you’ve submitted your admissions application, please keep the following in mind:

  • UDC cannot make an admission decision until we receive all required documents to complete your application, including transcripts, test scores and other required documents noted above. You’ll find full details on the Apply Now page.
  • If you did not pay your application fee by credit card when you submitted your application, please mail an Application Fee Payment Form to the Admissions Office along with a check or money order payable to the University of the District of Columbia.

  • If you need to update your application or have decided to defer your application to a future academic term, please complete the Application Update Form and email or mail it to the Admissions Office.

Steps to Enroll, If You’re Accepted to UDC

If you are accepted to UDC, please follow these next steps to confirm your enrollment and to finalize your paperwork and become part of our campus community:

  1. Complete and submit your Confirmation of Enrollment Form.
  2. Obtain your student Visa and pay your SEVIS fee.
  3. If you are under 25 years of age, submit your vaccination / health forms.
  4. Submit your health insurance or insurance waiver forms.
  5. Make an appointment with the University SEVIS coordinator.
  6. Register for orientation.
  7. Apply for financial aid, if you have not already done so.
  8. Schedule an appointment to take the ACCUPLACER test (Community College students only).

If you are transferring to UDC from another university, please also complete these steps:

  • Facilitate your SEVIS release between your current university and UDC.
  • If you are changing your Visa status, provide UDC the proper documentation.
  • Review your Transfer Credit Report. If you apply before the priority deadline, you should receive your report three-four weeks after you are admitted. Students who apply after the deadline may not receive their reports until orientation. If you have not received your report, you can contact the Admissions Office.
