UDC Professor Brandon Schweitzer Awarded Fulbright Specialist Grant
Dr. Brandon Schweitzer, an assistant professor of accounting at the University of the District of Columbia Community College Division of Business, has been awarded a Fulbright Specialist grant to work in Medellín, Colombia. Beginning Nov. 5, Schweitzer will collaborate with the Mundo Organizacional group at Uniremington’s School of Business, where he will contribute to the growing field of environmental, social and governance (ESG) research and its financial implications for companies in the Pacific Alliance, a Latin American trade bloc.
“This project is vital for understanding how environmental, social and governance criteria influence financial performance in emerging markets like Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru,” Schweitzer says. “I look forward to working alongside local researchers to uncover new insights that will benefit businesses and investors.”
Schweitzer will utilize his expertise to lead workshops and training sessions on ESG and financial performance in Latin American markets. He will engage with researchers and students to foster a deeper understanding of how companies can thrive while embracing sustainability.
“As a Fulbright specialist, I’m thrilled to contribute to the academic growth of faculty and students in this vital area of research,” he says. “Together, we will explore the potential for sustainable business practices to drive economic success in the Pacific Alliance.”
Part of the Fulbright Program, the Fulbright Specialist grant was established in 2001 by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA). The program matches U.S. academics with host institutions abroad, enabling participants to share their knowledge, build relationships and expand their understanding of international cultures.
