UDC Career and Community Expo to Link Local Residents With In-Demand Jobs
Join the UDC Workforce Development and Lifelong Learning (WDLL) team at the University of the District of Columbia’s Congress Heights campus on Wednesday, Sept. 18, from 2 to 6 p.m. to network with local employers and community-based organizations at the Career and Community Expo.
The free, in-person event will feature over 25 employment and community-resource organizations, enabling the D.C. community to meet top companies and explore job opportunities in healthcare, information technology, construction, early childhood education and hospitality. The first 50 attendees will also receive a complimentary Visa Gift Card.
UDC has hosted the expo in the fall and spring since 2022; since then, it has grown considerably—and will only get bigger in years to come, says WDLL Dean Mashonda Smith.
“We are happy to see this event grow every year,” Smith says. “Most importantly, we are excited about connecting District residents with amazing regional employers and community-based organizations from around the city.”
Participating organizations include Amerigroup DC, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Pepco and the D.C. Department of Employment Services, who will be on-hand with resources for District residents on housing and home ownership, food assistance, utility and Internet access, and job training. Employers including Bridgepoint Healthcare, Davis Construction and Nelson Early Learning Services are among the businesses showcasing their brands and career opportunities.
University representatives will also be available to share information on UDC degree programs and job-training resources.
